Background Information on the Fee Increase

The cost of delivering instruction and support has increased. In order to maintain high standards of programs and service, TRU’s Board of Governors has approved tuition fee increases for both Canadian and International students.

TRU is committed to maintaining a high quality of programming and support services for our international students. We will continue to do our best to ensure that our programs are as affordable and accessible as possible for all students.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. If I have already submitted payment for Fall 2008 semester of CDN$6,000, would I still be required to pay the increased fee?
A1. Yes. Students who have already submitted payment for the fall will be asked to pay the fee differential upon arrival at TRU. According to TRU policy, fees, other requirements, and policies are all subject to change without prior notice.

Q2. If I am unable to proceed with my studies at TRU due to the fee increase, will I get a refund of my tuition fees paid to date?
A2. Yes, you would receive a refund of the fees paid to date. TRU would then issue a letter to Canada Immigration informing them that you have withdrawn your application to TRU. You should then inform the local Canadian Embassy of this change to ensure that a student authorization is not issued under TRU’s acceptance.

Q3. When was the last fee increase at TRU?
A3.
Student fees were last increased in 2005. There have been no tuition increases in the years since.

Q4. How do TRU’s new international tuition fees compare to other Canadian universities?
A4.
TRU’s international tuition fees continue to offer excellent value among Canadian universities. In a recent survey of 20 Canadian universities, TRU placed in the mid-range in terms of tuition fees, and continues to be among the most affordable universities in BC.
