International Education Consulting:
Workshops and Resources
"Global education can no longer be viewed as a secondary consideration; we must recognize that it is central to developing graduates who can cope creatively with the modern, interdependent world."
-- R.J. Wood, Toward Cultural Empathy:
A Framework for Global Education, 1991 Like many other educational institutions, Thompson Rivers University has experienced a rapid growth in cultural diversity as a result of successful internationalization initiatives. The richness our international student population brings to the campus is widely recognized, yet along with the benefits have come challenges.
The cultural diversification of our campus presented the need to enhance intercultural competencies within service and academic departments in order to support both students and staff. A resource for academic departments (
A Globally Minded Campus--A Resource for Academic Departments) and a series of
intercultural workshops are two of the vehicles we employ toward creating a globally minded campus.
