WHITEWATER RAFTING 
Saturday, June 18th, 2011

Staff and students celebrated the ending of the first summer session at TRU by taking to the waters of the Adams River for a day of whitewater rafting.  After being greeted at the park by some unusual characters, everyone paddled hard and made it through the canyon in one piece!  Thanks to our guides Clif, Eric, and Paul, and photographer Coby for an incredible day that no one will soon forget.  Also special thanks to volunteers Yasir & Hayfaa for helping out.

HORSEBACK RIDING 
Sunday, June 5th, 2011

YEEEEEEHAW!!!!!! Students took a day for a true Western experience at Jandana Ranch.  They learned natural horsemanship and how to ride before taking off on a trail ride through the hills above the ranch.  A large BBQ feast was prepared for all to enjoy.  Thanks to our volunteers Irina and Marina for taking care of everyone!

DRAGON BOATING

1! 2! 1! 2! 1! 2! Who knew keeping time with 20 other people would be so tricky?  Students and staff learned all about that on Friday night as the Kamloops Dragon Boat Club took them out on the water for some paddling fun.  After a few hours on the water, they hit the Sports Central Lounge for some great food and games.  Who packs the strongest punch?  Check out the photos to see!  BIG THANKS to our volunteers Angelina and Musonda for all their help!

SUMMER BLOCK PARTY

Summer students joined in the fun to celebrate the start of the new semester.  Backed by some great tunes, students danced, ate, and played all afternoon.  Between the pizza from Orientation and the snow cones and cotton candy from ISAP, students enjoyed great games and even raced to win the block challenge!  Special thanks to the volunteers who helped out to make sure everyone had a great time.

5TH ANNUAL TRU SURVIVORS 
Friday, April 15th, 2011

What a way to end the semester!  20 teams took part in a day of physically and mentally grueling challenges - all to be named TRU Survivors Champions 2011!  In it's 5th year, the competition was bigger and better than ever.  Topped off with great MCs, the music pumping, and free food, it was an all-around amazing day.  Not to mention that the Office of the Provost & V.P. Academic and the Office of the Vice Provost Student Services tossed in extra cash on top of the prize money from the Alumni Association so our top 5 teams were competing for their share of $5,000 in prize money!
A HUGE thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers and to TRU Facilities for all of their hard work throughout the event.

INDOOR ROCK CLIMBING

On belay...climbing...climb on!  Students and staff spent an evening learning the basics of rock climbing before taking on the walls themselves.  Finishing off with the closest of races, everyone then enjoyed a great feast of pizza and snacks.  Thanks to our volunteers Marianne & Hannes for making sure everyone had a great time!

LEARN TO CURL 
Friday, March 11th, 2011

Students and staff took to the ice for an exciting evening of throwing rocks, sweeping, and landing them right on the button.  Everyone received great instruction from members of the MacArthur Island Curling Club before embarking on some intensely competitive ends.  A great time was had by all, and looks like we have some aspiring curlers now!  A big thanks to Kat at the Bread Garden for providing some great food, as well as to our volunteers Alyda & Amanda for keeping everyone together!

WOLFPACK MEN'S HOCKEY NIGHT

Survive Student Life...R U In? brought out students and staff to support the WolfPack Men’s Hockey Team as they took on the Okanagan College Coyotes on Friday, February 18th. They cheered, jeered, and enjoyed lots of free stuff as the WolfPack shutout the Coyotes 2-0. Congratulations goes out to Twyla Wolmey, winner of a $250 tuition credit by scoring 5 goals in 30 seconds from centre ice. Sponsored by TRU Recreation, ISAP, Wellness, and Student Services. 

SUN PEAKS SKI/SNOWBOARD DAY 
Saturday, January 29th, 2011

Over 100 staff and students from TRU invaded Sun Peaks for the annual Ski/Snowboard Day on Saturday, January 29th. Whether they were boarders or skiers, beginners or experts, everyone had a great time playing in the snow. Thanks to our volunteers: Alex, Yasir, Irina, Angelina, Todd, and ZiPing for making sure that no one was left behind!

INTRODUCTION TO ICE FISHING 
Sunday, January 16th, 2011

Staff and students traveled to Walloper Lake to partake in a traditional Canadian winter activity: ice fishing.  They braved the cold to learn how to prepare the lines, find the bottom of the lake, and reel in a fish - all in the snow!  Thanks to the Kamloops Fish and Game Association for their help getting us all set up, and to our student volunteers Denisa and Roman for their help keeping everyone organized.
