Sports Event Management Diploma

This two-year program will prepare graduates for a variety of positions in the sports event industry. Courses provide students with an introduction to the business skills required to produce a sports event, and allow students to develop the expertise to organize events, find appropriate sponsors, recruit and motivate volunteers, and successfully market the event.

Employment opportunities exist for graduates to organize sporting events at a corporate, amateur, or professional level. As well, tourism associations and destination management organizations have begun to realize the potential of attracting sports events to their communities, creating new career opportunities for graduates with these types of organizations as well.

Developed jointly by the TRU School of Tourism and the Department of Physical Education, the diploma has received strong support and commitment from the sports industry.
