Customized Training and Consulting

Thompson Rivers University is a leader in the global exchange of knowledge, and undertakes a wide range of international training and consulting projects. 

In particular, TRU has a strong focus in customized English language programs and is an international centre for teacher training, having trained thousands of professional teachers from abroad in recent years.

TRU's customized training and consulting projects address a range of specializations and are delivered both in Canada and abroad. These projects are funded by international development banks and institutions as well as by clients and other project partners.

As examples of TRU’s recent work in this area, the university has successfully delivered a landmark symposium on respiratory technology in Southeast Asia, customized respiratory therapy programs in China (for the Ministry of Health in Hunan Province and Hunan People's Hospital), tourism development training for indigenous groups in Chile (for the Corporación Nacional de Desarrollo Indígena [CONADI] and delivered in partnership with the Kamloops Indian Band), technical skills training for mine workers in Jamaica (for Kaiser Aluminum and ALCAN), and a series of training programs to help prepare one of China’s leading telecommunications providers for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
